HOW DO ALL ON 6 IMPLANTS WORK

In the first visit, our specialists at LBR DENTAL AND IMPLANT CENTER, examine the patient, followed by required diagnostics for a preliminary assessment. A 3D CBCT Scan is used to assess the bone density for the placement of implants. Then the available treatment options along with the technique and the cost will be explained in detail to the patient as a part of the treatment plan.

After proper evaluation of the CT scan, we plan implant size and position them in the jaws such that they are placed at a proper angulation, spread out evenly in the jaw and not stationed only in the anterior region to maintain a proper antero posterior spread.

The biggest significant benefit of this being, to avoid cantilevers and to distribute the stress evenly throughout the jaw as the implants act as anchors for an Immediate fixed ceramic bridge.

The titanium make implants, Osseointegrate with the jaw bone thereby aiding in fixed teeth in less than a week to provide solid foundation to endure chewing forces.

PROCEDURE

On the day of the treatment, badly damaged teeth, if any, will be removed under local anesthesia, if the patient is very apprehensive, it can be done under Nitrous oxide sedation too, which is also called Sleep dentistry. After tooth removal and proper debridement, 6 implants will be placed in each of the arches. The implant placement in the upper arch will be, 2 in the center, that is two on either side of the midline, two in the middle or the premolar area and the last two in the pterygoid bone present behind the upper wisdom teeth. These are called Tubero pterygoid implants. The distal half of the upper jaw is the most difficult area for implant placement,due to presence of sinus cavity or rarefaction of upper distal jaw bone or severe atrophy of the maxilla.

This is when pterygoid implants come to the rescue as pterygoid bone where these implants are engaged is a much stronger bone.

Placement of pterygoid implants helps to avoid

• Sinus lifts and bone grafts.
• Avoid cantilevers, which is very crucial for the longevity of the implants and the ceramic bridges alike as, grinding teeth bear the maximum brunt of the chewing forces which is around 150-190 pounds on an average.

In the lower arch, we place 2 implants in the anterior region, 2 implants in the middle and 2 in rear end to the avoid cantilevers, if the bone volume does not permit an implant at rear end, we do nerve bypass instead of complicated surgery like nerve repositioning to avoid cantilevers.

Implant placement is followed by positioning of Multiunit abutments which are available in a range of angles and are selected according to angulation of the implant placed. These multi unit abutments help provide better support for dental prosthetics,overcome restorative challenges and reduce soft tissue disturbances.

This step is followed by the scanning of the Implants to prepare the final fixed prosthesis.
