Radiographs like Orthopantomogram and lateral Cephalogram are taken along with the photographs for diagnostic evaluation and to determine the treatment plan. The oral cavity is scanned to create a 3D digital representation of the teeth and Aligners are made out of Biocompatible plastic-like material called polyurethane resin. These are mouthpieces that apply gentle tension to the teeth and progressively move the teeth into proper alignment.
One has to use each set of aligners for 22 hours a day for 10 to 15 days before replacing it with a new set. Aligners can work to create a proper smile as long as you wear them earnestly as prescribed, ignoring that can prolong the treatment time.
The entire treatment will take around 6 to 18 months depending on the complexity of the problem. Teenagers will be more responsive to treatment when compared to adults and that is the reason why it is always preferred to start orthodontic treatment early, that is around 13 to 14 years as this is when a person loses all his milk teeth and will have a complete set of permanent teeth. neverthe-less as the famous saying goes, it is better late than never.
